I’m happy to feature my friend, Amy Anguish, in this month’s edition of my guest highlight. She and I met through our association with Scrivenings Press. We are both authors with Scrivenings and Amy does double duty as a fabulous content editor. (She recently performed a content edit on my Christmas novella and improved many issues). She was fun to work with as an editor and I also get to enjoy her as a friend. I promise, you’ll enjoy her, too.
Amy grew up a preacher’s kid, and in spite of having lived in seven different states that are all south of the Mason Dixon line, she is not a football fan. (As a current Southerner, I am shocked!! Woo Pig!) She resides in Tennessee with her husband, daughter, and son, and usually a bossy cat or two. Amy has an English degree from Freed-Hardeman University that she intends to use to glorify God, and she wants her stories to show that while Christians face real struggles, it can still work out for good.
What are you working on right now?
Launching Window of the Heart and editing Mama Dated Santa. And I never want to launch and edit two different books at the same time again. It’s hard and I’ve done it twice now this year. Lesson learned!
Could you give me an overview about Window of the Heart?
Lennox Malone may not believe in love, but she’s determined to do the best job she can as her friend Sara Beth’s maid of honor. Problem is, the man in charge of fixing up the chapel doesn’t match her determination. Fighting against preconceived notions, a past that catches up to her, and an attraction she wants nothing to do with, this wedding is turning into more than she can handle.
Ty Dunne might be laid back and easy-going, but he’s determined to make sure the chapel is ready for his cousin’s wedding. Not only is it his duty as best man, but he wants to preserve the family’s history in the building. If only he could live up to his family’s other expectations—or those of Lennox Malone, the fiery redhead he can’t stop thinking about. Before he can go any further with her, though, he has to convince her that love is real and worth the risk.
Lennox has built her walls high and sturdy, but Ty is determined to find a way in—even if it’s a window. Maybe the history of the chapel itself along with the romance of a wedding will help.
I can’t wait to get my hands on Window of the Heart to find out what happens! What is your next writing project?
I need to finish up my novella for next fall for the A Match Made at Christmas collection. It’s about a couple who are separated and their eight-year-old son takes it upon himself to play matchmaker and fix things.
What is your superpower?
Does writing a book in less than a month count as a superpower? Because I have actually written a full-length novel in 18 days before. 😉
How do you relax and recharge when you step away from writing?
Reading. Gardening. Sewing. Maybe not in that order, but reading is always my go-to for relaxation.
Do you journal?
I used to, but I fell out of practice shortly after we married. Now, I share a lot of my thoughts through my blog.
What genre would you like to consider in the future that differs from that/those you do now?
Possibly historical, though it still scares me a bit. So much research required.
What is the one thing we would never guess about you?
A lot of people can’t guess that I’m an extrovert. But I love being around people.
If you could be any fictional character, who would you be and why?
Jo from Little Women. She’s so spunky. And she ends up writing. And I love Professor Baer.
What book or book series have you recently enjoyed reading?
I’ve read so many good books lately, but some of my favorites have been by Nicole Deese. If you haven’t read hers, I highly recommend.
What’s your best advice for other writers?
Trust your editors. And make sure you have good editors. You can write a good story, but if it’s lost in grammatical errors and stupid mistakes, no one will remember what a good story it was. They’ll write it off for lack of editing.
What are you most thankful for?
SO MUCH. But especially for my two kids. Because for quite a few years, we didn’t think we were going to be able to have any.
If you could have an unlimited supply of one thing for the rest of your life, what would you like?
Tea. I drink black tea every day. Earl Grey or Lady Grey or English Breakfast, usually. I almost can’t function without it.

Jenny Carlisle says
To quote an old rock song- “How do you think she does it?” “I don’t know”.
This is one amazing lady! I enjoy working with her so much, as well. I agree with your editor comment,as well as daily tea! That may be the secret!
