Author Kimberly Banet has a fantastic novel newly published by Scrivenings Press. I always want to learn something when I read a novel and this one teaches us about offering our hearts to foster a child. Explore the world of Sam and the Grayson family as they bring hope and love to readers, mixed with angst and tribulations. It’s a book you won’t walk away from, once you let the characters in your heart.
As our guest author for July, I asked Kim to share some fun and interesting information with us.
Congratulations on Just Another Home. It’s a great book. What are you working on right now?
I’m finishing book two in the Family Forever series. It’s titled Just Another Dream and is scheduled for release May 6, 2025. It will be a continuation of the lives of the main characters in Just Another Home.
Tell us a little about your next writing project.
Next up will be the third and final book of the Family Forever series. I hope to start it as soon as book two is submitted to my publisher for editing in September.
What is the one thing we would never guess about you?
Before I became a writer, I had a 20-plus year career as a Human Resources manager. It was stressful at times, and my boss used to joke that I should write a book about all the unusual circumstances and situations we dealt with. I think the fiction books I write would be more believable to people than some of the HR situations I encountered over the years!
How do you relax and recharge when you step away from writing?
My husband and I like to take road trip on the weekends or just hang around the house with our two dogs, Daisy and Winnie.
What is your superpower?
I can run on little sleep. At some point that will probably catch up with me, but for now my 5-6 hours a night works for me and my schedule.
What are you most thankful for?
Without a doubt, my husband Jeff. We recently celebrated our 36th anniversary. God sure knew what he was doing when he brought us together back in 1986. Without his support I wouldn’t be doing what I love right now.
If you could have an unlimited supply of one thing for the rest of your life, what would you like?
Free time! So I can write, read, craft, or just hang out with family and friends.
What book or book series have you recently enjoyed reading?
I love Karen Kingsbury and have read her entire Baxter Family series, including all the “spin-off” books. I love them all. I lost count of how many there are, but I think it’s in the thirties.
What’s your best advice for other writers?
Enter contests! I entered many contests when I started writing, and the feedback I received strengthened my writing and gave me confidence. Not to mention, if you do well in a contest, you may attract the attention of publishers or agents. That’s how I ended up with my publishing contract.
Thank you, Kimberly!
Thank you, Ellen, for having me! This has been a lot of fun.
