My guest today is Christian Rost, who is an award-winning author, mother of three, who is married to her high school sweetheart. Christina has shared a snippet about book two in the H & G Mysteries series, Hidden Legacy, available August 5th.
When Emersyn Zucker meets Lucas Bennett, it’s love at first sight. But both harbor family secrets, and their blossoming romance soon gets tangled in a web of deception.
After uncovering her great-grandfather’s connection to a clandestine society known as H & G, Emersyn begins to question everything she’s ever known. Should she embrace the society or distance herself from her family ties and renounce her great-grandfather’s legacy? And if she joins H & G, how would Lucas react to her secret double life?
The mysterious disappearance of a century-old Bible forces Emersyn to choose where her true loyalties lie, because if the ancient text falls into the wrong hands, the consequences could be deadly.
Thrust into the treacherous world of treasure hunting, Emersyn and Lucas embark on a perilous journey where secrets abound—and trust is a luxury Emersyn can’t afford.
What is your next writing project?
I’m working on Book 3 in the H & G Mysteries. It’s Henry’s story and will be available in 2026. I’m enjoying it so much because it’s set in Oklahoma and I’m using a few of our little towns around here as inspiration for the backdrop.
Do you journal?
I love to journal. I’ve been journalling since I can remember. I think it’s a great way to clear my mind so I can be creative. In fact, I just taught a class recently on the benefits of journaling for creatives.
Who are your favorite authors?
Some of my favorite authors are Sarah Sundin, Susan Sleeman, Jody Hedlund, and Elizabeth Goddard.
What genre would you like to consider in the future that is different from what you write now?
I want to try writing a rom com at some point. I enjoy watching a good rom-com, so I’d like to try my hand at crafting one of my own.
What book or book series have you recently enjoyed reading?
I just finished Calling on the Matchmaker by Jody Hedlund and I’m looking forward to the rest of the series.
What is the greatest blessing of being a writer?
Finding instant friends in writers and readers. I love meeting writers and there’s an instant connection because you’re both in the land of make believe. I love meeting readers because I love to hear what they pick up after reading one of my stories. It’s like the story keeps growing and sprouting new life every time a new reader reads it!
How do you relax and recharge when you step away from writing?
Usually by watching a chick-flick or meeting a friend for coffee. Something to take my mind off being the one to create the world or the entertainment. I also like to try new artsy things, like watercolor or crafting while listening to an audiobook.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I’d love to jump on a plane and spend a month living in an old Scottish castle. I love cool weather, rain and roaring fireplaces. If we were going for full on imagination, there’d be a chef, and I wouldn’t need to cook! I want to write a story set in Scotland one day, and I think it would be wonderful to write on location.
If you could be any fictional character, who would you be and why?
No doubt Elizabeth Bennett. It would be fun to get into Miss Austen’s head and see how she wrote that character. Maybe see what she deleted. Did Elizabeth ever approach the Darcy thing differently? Attending one of Miss Austen’s dances would be worth jumping into the story for a bit.
What is the one thing we’d never guess about you?
I’ve never mastered the art of hard boiling an egg to perfection.
